Most problems have a two-minute fix below. If yours doesn't, write to us - a person reads every message.

Include this in your first email

  • Your Peakloom version, from the About Peakloom window
  • Whether you are on macOS or Windows, and which version
  • What you did, step by step, right before it went wrong
  • A screenshot or short screen recording, if the problem is visible

Please don't attach your photos unless we ask for them. We only ever want a file when it is the file that is failing.

Troubleshooting

The six things people write in about.

Each one takes about a minute.

The app won't open after install

On macOS, right-click Peakloom in Applications and choose Open, then confirm - or open System Settings, go to Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway. On Windows, if SmartScreen appears, choose More info and then Run anyway.

Updating to the latest build

The download page always serves the current version. Installing it over your existing copy is the manual route if an update ever fails - your preferences, presets and files stay exactly where they are.

An AI model won't download

Nothing ships pre-bundled: each model downloads the first time you use the feature that needs it, from about 5 MB to just under a gigabyte. If one stalls, check that a VPN, firewall or corporate proxy isn't blocking it, then start the feature again to resume.

Everything feels slow

The first run of any model is the slow one, because it is being loaded into memory - the second is much faster. Large canvases want free RAM, so close other GPU-heavy apps, and give background removal on very large images a moment before assuming it hung.

Pro isn't unlocking

Sign in with the same account you bought with. If you purchased through the Mac App Store, use Restore Purchases; if you bought directly from us and it still doesn't take, email us and we'll fix it from our side.

An export or PSD looks wrong

Free exports carry a small corner watermark; Pro removes it. PSD export preserves layers, adjustment layers, layer effects, editable text and smart objects - if a specific file opens differently elsewhere, send us that file and we'll look at it.

Answers

Questions we get after you've installed it.

I paid for Pro but this machine doesn't know it.

Sign in with the account you used to buy. On the Mac App Store, use Restore Purchases; a direct purchase follows your account, so signing in is enough. Still nothing? Email us with the address you paid with and we'll sort it out.

How do I get a refund?

If you bought through the Mac App Store, Apple handles refunds: request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. If you bought directly from us, write to support and tell us what went wrong - we'd rather fix the problem, but we won't argue about a refund.

I'm moving to a new computer.

Download Peakloom on the new machine and sign in with the same account - Pro follows your account, not your hardware. Your projects and exports are ordinary files, so copy them across the way you copy anything else.

How do I uninstall Peakloom completely?

On macOS, drag Peakloom from Applications to the Trash. On Windows, use Settings, then Apps, then Uninstall. Downloaded AI models and preferences live in the standard per-user application data folder - Application Support on macOS, AppData on Windows - so delete the Peakloom folder there to remove those too.

Does support ever see my photos?

No, and neither does the app for the most part: editing and every on-device AI feature run on your machine. Only Generative Fill and Rotate Object call a server, and only when you click them. We see a file only if you choose to attach one to an email, which we ask for only when the file itself is the problem.

How do I report a bug?

Email support with your Peakloom version, your OS, and the steps that reproduce it. A reproducible bug usually gets fixed in the next build; a vague one takes several rounds of email first, so the detail is worth the two extra minutes.

Can I request a feature?

Yes, and it's the most useful mail we get. Send it to the same address, or reply to us on Threads. Tell us the problem you're trying to solve rather than the button you want - it usually leads somewhere better.

How do I report a security or privacy issue?

Write to the same address with "security" in the subject line and we'll treat it as urgent. Please give us a chance to ship a fix before you publish anything.
