Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 10, 2026
Peakloom is built around a simple idea: your photos are yours. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and what we will never do - in plain language, because privacy policies should be readable too.
Who we are and what this covers
Peakloom is a Mac-native photo editor. This policy covers both the Peakloom website (peakloom.com), including the launch waitlist, and the Peakloom app for macOS. By using either, you agree to the practices described here.
What we collect
We collect as little as we can get away with:
- Waitlist email - if you join the waitlist on our website, we store the email address you give us. Nothing else.
- Account email - the app works without an account. If you create one (to activate a purchase or sync your plan), we store your email address and sign you in with a one-time magic link. There are no passwords to store or leak.
- Device identifiers - a random identifier per device, used to enforce the device limit on your plan and to let you remove old devices from your account.
- Purchase status - whether your account has an active plan. Payments are handled by our payment processor; we never see or store your card details.
- Usage analytics and crash reports - anonymous, aggregated signals about which features are used and when something breaks, so we can fix the right things. These never include your photos or their contents.
Your photos and AI
Most of Peakloom's AI runs entirely on your Mac, on Apple silicon: depth analysis, Relight, Magic Selection, background removal, Smart Erase and one-tap Looks all process your image locally. Those photos never leave your machine.
A few generative features - Generative Fill, AI Expand and AI Upscale - need more compute than a laptop can offer, so they send the relevant image data to our servers over an encrypted connection. That data is used only to fulfill your request, is deleted after processing, and is never used to train AI models.
The app always makes clear which features run in the cloud before you use them.
What we never do
Some lines we don't cross:
- We don't sell or rent your personal data. To anyone. Ever.
- We don't show ads or share your data with advertisers.
- We don't scan your photo library. The app only touches the files you open.
- We don't train AI models on your images.
Email from us
If you're on the waitlist, we'll send you one email when Peakloom launches, and occasional meaningful updates before then. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing is instant.
Service providers
We rely on a small number of providers to run Peakloom - for email delivery, payment processing, hosting and content delivery, anonymous analytics, and cloud AI inference. Each one only receives the data it needs to do its job and is bound by its own data-protection obligations.
Retention and your rights
We keep your data only for as long as you use Peakloom or stay on the waitlist. You can ask us at any time to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, export it, or delete it entirely - email us and we'll take care of it, usually within a few days. If you're in the EU/EEA, the UK or a jurisdiction with similar laws, these are your statutory rights, and we honor them regardless of where you live.
Security
All traffic between the app, the website and our servers is encrypted in transit. Access to production data is restricted and logged. No system is perfectly secure, but we treat your data the way we'd want ours treated.
Children
Peakloom is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top and - for meaningful changes - tell you by email or in the app. The current version always lives at peakloom.com/privacy.
